I am the way, the truth and the life!
I like this picture. I found it on a blog I frequent called: nakedpastor.

Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the father except through me”1
But how often does his way, and his truth, become my way and my truth? Surely none of us would be so arrogant as to suggest that our understanding is the understanding, would we? I am not so certain. Even though I try to resist, I am very conscious of an urge within myself to convince others of my thoughts concerning God. In a past life, I might have understood such motivations to be a “godly desire to teach” or to “evangelize,” but now I recognize them for what they are: a selfish need to shape the world after myself!2 There is a very real part of me that wants to appropriate Christ’s words.

I’ve read your blog for a while now without commenting and I like the way you challenge me and what I believe but I am finding you are leaving me with nothing to believe!! Maybe that’s my new starting point but where do I go from here?

I think these are great questions, and if you don’t mind, I am going to take time to ponder and answer, and probably frame as a new post.
You bring up two issues: that of teachers; and the question of what to believe; I will consider these separately – though, maybe not in the next post as I am trying to finish my third instalment on Romans 1.
